Overview of Morocco's Energy and Power Industry
5 September 2026
Morocco's energy and power sector is in transition, with the main thrust being to expand renewable energy generation and modernize the power grid, while advancing cross-border electricity interconnection. The main contracting and procurement entities include public institutions such as the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) and the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN), covering procurement of power generation projects such as solar PV, wind power, and energy storage, transmission and distribution equipment, operations and maintenance services, and technical consulting. Project scales and grid-connection conditions vary, and development and procurement paths also differ. Common forms of cooperation for foreign enterprises are equipment supply, engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracting, operations and maintenance services, or consortium bidding. Specific procurement notices and qualification conditions are subject to the original official texts.
Types of Access Requirements
Common threshold types: local registered entity or consortium rules; performance in similar power plant or grid projects; proof of financial capacity and bid security; equipment technical certification and compliance documents; grid connection and access condition categories; language and format requirements for bid documents. Specific amounts and deadlines are subject to the original notices.
