West Africa Energy Corridor Update: Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline (AAGP) Project Overview

18 August 2026

The Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline (AAGP) is a planned transnational energy infrastructure project, with a total route length of about 6,900 kilometers, connecting 13 West African countries along the route, a designed transmission capacity of 30 billion cubic meters per year, an investment scale of about USD 25 billion, and a multi-country joint investment model. Project owners include the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM) of Morocco, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), and the governments of the 13 countries along the route; the intergovernmental agreement was signed in 2026, the ONHYM-NNPC joint venture has been established, and the first gas supply target is 2031. This project will connect the West African coastal energy corridor. If advanced on schedule, there are long-term opportunities in pipeline engineering, equipment supply, and supporting services along the route. Chinese enterprises can continuously track its financing structure and tender developments; given that the project is still in the early planning stage, specific business opportunities are subject to information officially released by each participant.
